If you are willing to put in some time and effort these tricks are fairly easy to teach your dog.
- Sit- Put a treat in your hand in front of your canine’s nose as you say sit move your hand up and back so the dog follows your hand with the treat until they bend its head back enough to cause them to sit. Reward your dog and repeat until they sit right away when you say sit or show them the treat.Â
- Lay Down- Start from sitting and put your hand with a treat by their nose and move down between the front paws they should follow the movement and lay down. Reward and repeat. Tip: It helps if you notice and reward your dog when they sit or lay down on its own.
- Stay- From Sitting hold an open hand up to the face and say stay, after they stay a few seconds reward and repeat. Gradually extend the distance and time you ask your dog to stay.Â
